Description
Status 2024-05-24
We have a new development going on with the customer bonus process. Status for this unclear.
Otherwise, except for couple of interuptions connected to Vivaldi updates, the ongoing processes have kept on running.
Background
To automate some nontrivial tasks that involve multiple steps of manipilations in a Graphical User Interface (GUI) we have tried the Robot Process Automation (RPA) approach. In this approach one records a human that performs such a task, and then lets a (software) robot mimic the process.
There are, however, disadvantages of this approach, such as brittleness, a large overhead for initial setup and change requests, as well as depending on external actors. Another option, where feasible, is to bypass the GUI and retreive, manipulate and write data using APIs and code. The latter option will be easier maintained and developed and can be kept in-house.
Why is it important:
The value of the current RPA projects is at present uncertain. We want to investigate how to proceed, and if possible use API-approaches instead of RPA solutions. Where RPA is appropriate we
