M&A Standardized Data Extraction & Migration Framework for Acquired Companies (NO, FI, SE, DK)
Description
1. Background & Problem Statement
During each company acquisition, Ahlsell must rapidly and securely extract, store, and archive financial and business‑critical data. Because acquired companies often operate on different ERP systems (e.g., Business Central, Movex, Dynamics/Qlick, Visma), each migration currently requires a unique, manual approach. This results in long lead times, inconsistencies, and higher costs.
At the same time, Nordic bookkeeping laws require long‑term retention of financial records, often 5–10 years depending on the country, even if the original systems are shut down. The goal is therefore to decommission the acquired company’s systems as soon as possible, while still maintaining full legal compliance and secure access to archived financial data.
2. Purpose of the Initiative
This initiative aims to establish a standardized and reusable framework for data extraction, data dumps, and migration from acquired companies into Ahlsell’s central platforms (Data Lake / Power BI), enabling low‑cost long‑term storage, consistent data models, and reliable audit access.
Deliverables include:
A unified due‑diligence data requirement package
Standardized export templates and ERP‑agnostic data models
Secure transfer flows using Landing Zone (for unstructured data, DD-423)
Automated ingestion pipelines and long‑term archiving structure
